How Florida RON actually works

You join a session on an approved platform. The system runs knowledge-based authentication — questions drawn from your credit file that only you should be able to answer — and then does a forensic analysis of your photo ID. Only after both pass do we go to video.

The whole session is recorded and retained for ten years, as Florida requires. That recording is, in practice, a stronger evidentiary record than an in-person notarisation, where the only account of what happened is a journal line.

The honest limitation: acceptance

RON is legally valid in Florida. That does not mean every recipient will take it. Some county recorders, some out-of-state title companies, some foreign consulates and some lenders still insist on wet ink, and a few document types are excluded outright.

So the sequence we recommend is: ask the receiving party whether they accept remote online notarisation, and only then book the session. We would rather tell you to make that phone call than sell you a session that gets rejected.

When RON is clearly the right answer

Out-of-state sellers on a Florida property whose title company accepts it. Military personnel deployed abroad. Snowbirds who are in Michigan in July and need something signed this week. Adult children handling a parent’s affairs from another state.

When it is not the right answer, we will say so and book you an in-person visit instead.
