Four things account for nearly every wasted appointment we hear about. All four are catchable on the phone, and we check for them when you call.

One witness on a Florida power of attorney
Florida requires two witnesses plus the notary. Templates written for other states omit the witness lines entirely. We check the form first, and we can bring the witnesses.

Identification that has expired
A licence that lapsed last month is not valid ID, however clearly the photo is you. We tell you exactly what to have ready.

The document was signed in advance
A notary has to witness the signature. Signed before we arrive means signing again — sometimes on a fresh copy. Leave the line blank.

A certified copy no notary may make
Florida notaries cannot certify copies of public records — birth and marriage certificates, court orders. Those come from the issuing agency.

How much does a notary cost in Florida?
Florida caps the notarial act at $10 per signature notarised. That is set by Florida Statutes §117.05 and no notary may charge more for the act itself. Remote online notarisation has a separate, higher cap of $25 per act. A mobile notary may also charge a travel fee, which Florida does not cap — but it must be disclosed and agreed before the appointment.
What ID do I need for a notary in Florida?
A current, unexpired, government-issued photo identification. A Florida driver licence or state ID card, a US passport, a military ID, an out-of-state driver licence, a Canadian licence, or a foreign passport. It must be the physical document — a photocopy, a photo on your phone, or an expired card will not do.
How long does a notarisation take?
A single-document appointment is usually ten to fifteen minutes from knock to seal. A power of attorney with two witnesses is closer to twenty-five. A full loan signing package runs sixty to ninety minutes because there are a hundred pages to work through properly.
Can you notarise my signature if I am not there?
No, under any circumstances. Personal presence is the entire basis of a notarisation. A notary who seals a signature they did not witness has committed misconduct, the notarisation is void, and the document may be unusable. If you genuinely cannot be present in person, remote online notarisation by video is the lawful alternative.
